P3445 Hold fast, dear saint of God.

“I pray that you will continually experience the immeasurable greatness of God’s power made available to you through faith. Then your lives will be an advertisement of this immense power as it works through you! This is the mighty power that was released when God raised Christ from the dead and exalted Him to the place of highest honour and supreme authority in the heavenly realm!” Ephesians 1:19-20 Amen.

Paul was given the ability by God, to understand what we have been given when Jesus died for all of us. In this verse he talks about this power being available to each one of us, as well as being released through us. But we have been given even greater opportunities than Paul had. Christians are so blessed, we have the revelations Father God gave to Luke, Matthew, Mark, John, James, Peter and Jude. Thank you Lord!

Paul was given incredible revelations about what Christ’s life, death and resurrection did. He teaches us that one act brought about the possibility of transformation for every human being. He shows us what living this life “In Christ Jesus” means. No exceptions. The problem is we can see these things as theology, (information), but they are not, they are a powerful way to live. We’ve grown used to thinking of God’s power as the power to do miracles, but the greatest use of God’s power is allowing it to transform each one of us, day by day. We are no longer held captive by a yoke of slavery — we’ve been set free to live the way our Saviour lived. Please notice the present tense!

Like Paul says, we can choose to live for Jesus and as we do so, we glorify HIM. That does not mean we are part of some clever marketing campaign, as we try hard to appeal to other people. Instead it means we are to be a showcase of Who He is, and what He has done … for everyone else to see. BTW, the gifts of the Spirit are a separate thing to being transformed. Now it is our choice to reflect Him into this world around us. We don’t set the standard, Jesus Himself does that! Human standards without the Holy Spirit’s input, create chaos.

The Lord Jesus’ action on mankind’s behalf, took every single human being out of the realm of sin and death, and broke it’s power over us. Then He firmly established mankind as the Father’s favoured children. Yes … even the people we don’t like!  Now sin is not compulsory – it is an optional extra – we are not powerless against it anymore! The Lord Jesus and what He did, transformed everything, and we have the Holy Spirit as  our Helper. It doesn’t matter what you think, or what I think – it only matters what He thinks and it is in the book!

We’ve been translated “out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of His marvellous light.” And the view is mind-boggling … which is why our minds and hearts need to catch up with what Jesus Christ has already done for us. That’s why we read the bible, we are playing catch-up! What you and I knew before we met Him has been wiped away with His own blood, so now it is natural for us to have His point of view. His point of view is LOVE.

Our relationship has been destined by God Himself to be totally intimate and functional, so we can go back to the place before mankind sinned. Where Father God and human beings were friends who deeply loved each other. He is willing to share His thoughts with us, just like He did when He walked and talked with Adam and Eve.

I choose to read the bible to find out exactly how His point of view works itself out in my life… by taking what the Lord has said and then I ask Him to show me how, when and where I need to apply it. Then I act on it. I am not a powerless person, a victim of my former circumstances any longer. What Jesus did for me restored me, and my whole life. With my permission, He takes every one of those hard, difficult, and sometimes terrible things in my life — the good, the bad … plus those ones I sadly think of as — “boy I wish I hadn’t done that!” …and He redeems it in ways I cannot possibly imagine. Those ways are so perfect, as I recognise them, they take my breath away.

Giving my life to Him is not a sacrifice, it is a joy. I can have God’s opinion for free, at any time. If it happens that the Lord is silent, then I don’t have to panic because His Word clearly tells me He will NOT leave me, nor forsake me. The Lord cannot be unfaithful to His Word and that is what I now stand upon. That and the blood that Jesus willingly shed on my behalf that washed me clean. Everything my Heavenly Father does is good. If it looks bad then that means I can’t see the end yet – it isn’t over, I am just observing His processes.

I refuse to reduce my Saviour to mere actions, or answers to prayer. Instead I rely upon what God Himself says in His book, and what Jesus has taught me. God does not have to prove Himself to me, He already did. Once and for all. This life has seasons, seasons of the soul. Some of our seasons are rich and bright like summer, or spring, and others seem destined for death like winter and autumn. But the life of God for us and in us, remains steadfast. Jesus taught us that.

Let’s hold fast to Him. In season and out. “Even when we are too weak to have any faith left, He remains faithful to us and will help us, for He cannot disown us who are part of Himself, and He will always carry out His promises to us.” 2 Timothy 2:13. Bye. 👋

P 3424 His Love speaks to us through His actions.

Our primary goal is to be so soaked in Father God’s love that it overflows onto anyone around us. Love is Who God is, it is His nature. We take in His all encompassing love for us, in the word, in our circumstances – good and bad – and then we let the redeemed good flow out of us toward other people around us. We become like overfilled little buckets that slosh His water everywhere we go. Let’s look at a few times from the bible where people were confronted by His love.

Many times the Lord spoke to Israel about their lack of obedience to what He told them, here’s one of those times in Judges 2:11-15. To the Lord a lack of obedience means a lack of loving respect toward Him. Their attitude toward Almighty God went badly for the Israelites. Here we see how His Love provided them with an opportunity to change their minds, by heeding His warnings.

“Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the Lord and served the Baals. They forsook the Lord, the God of their ancestors, who had brought them out of Egypt. They followed and worshiped various gods of the peoples around them. They aroused the Lord’s anger because they forsook Him and served Baal and the Ashtoreths.  In His anger against Israel the Lord gave them into the hands of raiders who plundered them. He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, whom they were no longer able to resist. Whenever Israel went out to fight, the hand of the Lord was against them to defeat them, just as He had sworn to them. They were in great distress.”

Let’s look at Paul and how his encounter with God turned him around. He already had a passionate, fervent active love for what he had studied and learnt – that’s why he killed off Christians, or prompted others to do it.  Almighty God, Who Paul claimed he was serving, knocked him to the ground and blinded him with a light brighter than any other. This is still a teaching experience. I don’t imagine Paul felt all that good, being blind and all! Right there is where his inward disposition, became an outward condition. He was struck blind by confronting God’s loving and living Truth. During that time Paul’s perspective was changed. Instead, Love handed Paul his destiny — and a revelation of God’s ways. It changed him, forever.

Now let’s look at God’s Love in Peter’s life. We all know that Peter denied Christ three times, and on a beach after supper, Jesus restored him again. Let’s pick that scripture up on the third time in John 21:17: “The third time He said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, “Do you love Me?” He said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love You.” Jesus said, “Feed My sheep.” Right here Jesus speaks into Peter’s idea of love, which was a wobbly theory, that had failed under pressure! The Lord transforms it into something Peter, His appointed leader, can DO to build the kingdom. God’s Love restored him, and handed him, his destiny.

Onto two people who were bible-toting, Holy Ghost believers. They are also an example of God’s love in action. Ananias and Sapphira sold their property, but Real Estate.com sold it for more money than they expected … or something like that…!  This couple believed in giving, but they lied and conspired about how much. You can’t lie to Love Himself and keep the life of God in you! Meanwhile, please note that they were asked to verify the amount individually, so either one of them could have recanted their dead-end plot. That’s how love works! They weren’t lumped together, even though they had colluded together. We know this couple didn’t back down even though Love Himself gave them a chance to change their minds. He spoke, and then He acted. Their destiny was thwarted and the integrity of the remaining saints was preserved.

I want to also include Ruth. It’s dead easy to see what happened to Ruth. She knew what submission and commitment meant. She joined herself to Naomi and would not quit. The other young woman went back to her home and she missed out on the blessing. Almighty God opened a brand new door to Ruth, and gave her another life. Plus He gave Naomi grandkids into the bargain! Almighty God made Ruth an active part of our Saviour’s ancestors. Her dedication was astonishing. When Ruth’s loyalty decided to follow Naomi home, love stepped in and acted for her, and she found a better destiny.

Lastly I want to look at Peter once more, because he saw with his own eyes, the result of Love’s work. On this particular day, God’s Love included those who were automatically excluded. Peter was sent for, supernaturally. The very next day, he is headed toward Cornelius’ house and he is hungry. He goes into a trance, and sees a vision of all sorts of unclean animals and the Lord instructs him to kill and eat them. Peter refuses because his religious training forbids him. Then Love speaks to him in Acts 10:15b. Hoo boy I hope someone is listening right now!! … “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.” Peter sees this vision three times, and then the Spirit calls him to recommence his journey again to Cornelius’ house.

Acts 10:34,35. “Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favouritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.” V44-46:“While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles. For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.”

The Spirit of God, took the time to show Peter with his own eyes, what the Holy Spirit wanted to do, and then He sovereignly carried it out in front of the man. I’m pretty sure by now you have my point – God also speaks through what happens to us – good and bad. That’s love. Bye 👋.

P 3418 Father God has a plan.

“For if you choose self-sacrifice, giving up your lives for My glory, you will discover true life. But if you choose to keep your lives for yourselves, you will lose what you try to keep.” Luke 9:24 TPT.  This verse is a revealed part of Almighty God’s plan for our lives. Iron sharpens iron, one scripture throws light upon another. We must eat it all, not just the bits we like, or think we need.

The life of God within us is designed to grow, flourish and prosper. “Beloved, I pray that in every way you may succeed and prosper and be in good health [physically], just as [I know] your soul prospers [spiritually].” 3 John 1:2. But if we happen to be ill or infirm, that is not necessarily an indication that something is wrong with our souls. We need to look at this verse very carefully. This is something John prays for the people he is writing to —he is praying a blessing over them and us.

I’ve watched dear Christian friends nearly turn themselves inside out trying to find out the reason they are sick. Let’s be quite clear – nobody likes being sick! But sadly sometimes our focus can shift over onto the illness and being healed, and it moves away from the Lord Himself. It is as if we feel God is withholding health from us and we don’t know why. I don’t know why either, but I do know God will not withhold any good thing from us! His plans are beyond our imaginings. My own personal experience cannot ever negate what He says — so I must be thinking amiss.

The thing is, we need His definition of good not ours. Let’s remember it pleased our Heavenly Father to crucify His dear Son on our behalf. That was God’s plan! Imagine doing that with your child for billions of totally ungrateful people who don’t love You or appreciate You, and now they use His Name as a swear word! If our focus goes off following Jesus and being grateful for all He has done for us and given to us … we may easily start rabbiting around in the corners of our minds looking for reasons why we are not well. We can lose our peace! Father God does not mean for us to live in confusion and conflict – He has provided a way through. A different way to think.

“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” Psalm 127:1a. Unless the Lord tells you how to chase that bunny rabbit of healing, you are missing out on the best part. The best part is always getting closer to Jesus! The bible says He is close to the broken-hearted. That’s God’s plan. Please don’t let what you don’t have, steal what He has already given you. Instead, start thanking Him for what you can see you have.

Part of His plan includes my obedience, if He says ‘come,’ I come — if He says ‘go’ I go. When we came to know Jesus, He saved us. Yet it is far too easy to forget that we gave our lives … this life, right here and now … AWAY. My only real sane choice is to obey, which means my feelings of inadequacy and helplessness aren’t the only reality. The way I regard what Jesus does in my life, is my gift to Him. I choose to yield to His plan, believe in His goodness. That doesn’t rely upon circumstances, it relies upon Who He is.

I know, that you know, that there is no sickness in heaven. Our problem is, we tell ourselves that being well will make it easier for us to serve Him, so we need to get well so we can serve Him better. That’s a terrific argument. But there are times when we need to focus on loving and serving Him, no matter what else is going on. You or I might meet someone in the next hospital bed who needs to hear from Jesus, and that person won’t go anywhere near a church. Paul was yielded to the Lord, yet he still went into jail – unfairly! But then he ministered to the guards and wrote those letters that still bless us today.

Let’s look at the people Jesus openly admired, because they show us His Ways aren’t like ours. The Lord honoured a tiny little old lady who gave two pennies. (Mark 12, Luke 21) There was a non-believer who knew more about submission and faith than most Christians do, and Jesus praised that man for it. (Matthew 8:9) And a fallen woman who washed His dirty feet with her tears. (Luke 7) Plus a tree-climbing tax collector who was so changed he gave away more than the law demanded as recompense for his thievery. (Luke 19). Not to mention a leprous man from another country who knew how to say thank you. (Luke17).  The Lord doesn’t think like we do.

Those people in the above scriptures didn’t know much about anything but pain, poverty, isolation, suffering and rejection, but they knew they needed Jesus’ help and they submitted themselves to Him. “My (Our) help comes from the Lord Who made heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:2) Choosing Him above the things in this life that will make our lives easier, is always the right choice. The Lord didn’t promise us, sunshine, lollipops and rainbows – He promised He would be with us in trouble.

Because we love the Lord we can have an abundance of His Love, wisdom, peace and joy in our lives in spite of our circumstances. Believe me, TRUE PEACE is better than a Maserati! He’s always doing something, we just don’t always know what it is. Meanwhile I often think we undervalue the importance of having enough. Father God always has a plan, that plan is to bring out the best in us and the people who live around us. It’s a good plan! Bye 👋 .

P 2884 The life of God in us.

In Luke 11:46 it says:”Jesus replied, “And you experts in the law, woe to you, because you load people down with burdens they can hardly carry, and you yourselves will not lift one finger to help them.”Well this one is a doozy that nobody talks about! We cannot afford to preach what we don’t practice – we may not be perfected yet, but the starting place is having enough humility to tell God we can’t do it. We need His help, and we need to admit our lack to others.

Sometimes, at church, there may be helpful people who love to explain to others how they too can be healed, fixed, etc., because this verse says blah blah blah, so if you just do blah blah blah you’ll be right! If that isn’t enough weight to kill a sick donkey, I dunno what is! The Lord wants us to minister whatever we minister with mercy in our hearts, not law! And there is not one way to do anything. The more we know Him the more ways the Holy Spirit will help us find! Meanwhile if you ever find a pastor who will help you carry your load – treasure him!

Luke 11:42:“Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.”BTW, Jesus is not making a point about tithing, instead He is saying that there is a lot more to following God than just being definitively particular about it!

Tithing cannot make up for disobedience in other areas. In this passage He is explaining to the people around Him, that we can’t pick and choose what we will obey! Unfortunately, a kind of self-righteousness will show up in people who value law more than life. Our aim is to value and cherish HIS LIFE IN US. We cannot afford to neglect being just, and sharing the love of God toward others, because those things are a hallmark of His Presence.

I want to be perfectly clear about this next remark… the way we treat our enemies — EG:  the people we don’t like;  or people who are annoying;  or family members who irritate the living daylights out of us;  or the people who deliberately and maliciously hurt us — those attitudes show us, and others, how much we love HIM! And like Jesus is saying here, we cannot pay lip-service to these things so we are going to need His help.

Many is the time, I’ve been sobbing away before the Lord explaining that I had tried to be nice to people who have hurt me, but I was totally poverty-stricken because I could not do it from my heart. That’s what “blessed are the poor in spirit...”is all about. Jesus Christ set the bar too high for any of us to reach it … without His help!

He also identified Himself with all of mankind when He said: “When you do this and that for other people, you are doing it for Me!” Our obedience is incredibly important to the Lord. Read the book. We need to understand that Father God is not interested in all talk and no action! God is looking for us to have enduring FAITH. Hebrews 12 says He is the Author of faith, so when we have faith, the life of God is in us.

Micah 6:8 says:“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”Mercy is now our middle name, and it is a sign of the life of God within us. Making sure that we treat others lovingly is not some old-fashioned nicey-nice concept – it is sorely needed grace in today’s self-centred world. We are to live by Christ’s brand of justice now – it is called unilateral forgiveness! Forgiveness is not optional and it is actually still justice. It is simply justice covered in MERCY! His ways aren’t ours!!

The reason the Lord was repeatedly angry with the Israelites, was because they would not obey Him – they ticked some of His boxes, but most of the time they went their own way. Father God knows how to get us through ANYTHING. He is our loving Father who created us and knows the very best way we should go. So in order to have His life, right here right now, we need to give our life away for His will, and …  … usually someone else’s benefit! That stuff makes very little sense to a legally-based mind, it will probably just make them angry.

The Lord is not fooled by our efforts to impress other people with how spiritual we are, His kids are to carry His Presence and His abounding Life within them wherever they go. The same way David’s men carried the Ark into Jerusalem – walking and leaping and praising God! The life of God in us will lead us through anything.

Bye 👋
