P3375 Indiscriminate seed sowing!

When hubby and I are on the road, we release the Lord’s seeds, everywhere! Things like bibles, books, prophetic paintings, prophetic words, Gospels and kids DVDs, bookmarks – with bible verses on the back, blankets, baby wraps, toiletries with a pass-it-on card inside … (We make our own). Compasses (we all get lost!), keychains, even a pair binoculars! We also pray for people.

The best thing is that we give away the good news, in person, one on one. The Lord knows what, where and how to get these things to give away. Meanwhile Father God is into bargains! He always knows the best place to buy stuff. He blows my mind – often! … Speaking of blowing, think of living like this as blowing on a dandelion clock – the seeds go everywhere.

Here’s why we choose to do it: “A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. And others fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when He had said these things, He cried, he that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” Luke 8:5-8.

This sower sowed his seed anywhere, without any thought of the topography, the situation or location. If that seed ended up feeding the birds, so be it! If it ended up growing in a ditch, or on a rock, or amongst thorns … that man did not care. HIS AIM WAS TO GET THE SEED OUT THERE! That’s what we do, when we go on bible trips. I’ve never once seen anyone put whatever we give them into a bin, and very, very few have refused to take the bible. Funnily enough, whenever they’ve said no to the bible, they will often still take a bookmark. I think the Holy Spirit definitely has a cool stealth mode. There is a scripture on the back of all those bookmarks!

We totally believe our Heavenly Father loves every single human being with the same undeserved generosity. He gives His love away for free, and He expects us to do the same. Look at the world we live in. It has been gloriously decorated with His love and creativity, and it is here for all of us to enjoy. Our world has all sorts of people in it. Some of them notice His handiwork, some don’t – but He is undaunted! He has left all this beauty out everywhere around us, as a sign that SomeOne bigger than we are, loves us. “If I go up to the heavens YOU are there, … If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, You are there.” Psalm 139.

Anyone who has snorkelled, or swum in the ocean, or watched a National Geographic documentary, or seen any of the wonders of the deep, has been awestruck by what they’ve found, hidden in that water. Some people study the stars, others have become aware of the complexity of the world around us and study that. These things are God Himself waving at the world. He’s everywhere. In the gentle movement of a butterfly or the swaying of tall grasses. He even notices and counts all those little birds when they drop out of the sky. He can see YOU, because He sees everything!

The Lord once told hubby and I that whenever we meet someone, if they have a friend with them, then we are to give them both something. We are not to leave anyone out – that’s what God is like! Nobody gets left out. We give away stuff so that when we leave, that person has a love gift, a seed, from Jesus Christ Himself in their hands. That gift  is living proof that He knows them individually and cares about their lives. Jesus is still doing what He has always done, loving the person in front of Him.

Meanwhile, you would be amazed at how many people no longer read the bible. We’ve had people ask us: “What’s a bible?”  Boy do we love those questions!! Anybody can do what we do. It’s scary, but so worthwhile. Instead of leaving this stuff to the evangelist, go out and witness! Focus on the fact that our precious Lord Jesus wants to touch somebody and He wants to use you to do it. He’s like that. He loves interacting with people. Jesus often went off alone to pray and talk with His Father, but most of the time He lovingly shared Himself with everyone around Him.

Because we chuck seeds out everywhere, we often do not know anything about where they land and what happens next. It’s like we’ve chucked them in the air and left the landing bit with the Lord. We are just ordinary people. Some days things go well for us, and on others they don’t! My point today is don’t be stingy with the seed of His Word, spread it about. Love everyone around you. Please don’t pick and choose who to love, love everyone. It’s easier on your memory, trust me.

It is a huge blessing to us to indiscriminately love others. It means we have made a choice to treat the person in front of us like they are the only person in the world, and we do and say whatever the Lord says to do and say. Leave behind any fake smiles, go outside, look around you, or read something in God’s Word that makes you happy and share that! That’s what we do. We spread around seeds from God’s kingdom, indiscriminately. After a while, it becomes who you are. Bye. 💕

P 2837 What we do with what God tells us daily, matters.

I know that many people, past and present, have had a great deal to say about this parable, I personally love the clarification the Lord Himself gave, which comes directly after it in Matthew 13:1-9:

“He (Jesus) taught them many things by parables, and in his teaching said: “Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.” Then Jesus said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

Almighty God gives us seed to sow from His Word – hopefully… daily!! His book is a fantastic source of life-giving seeds. We need to take those seeds He has personally given to us, and share them with others. That seed that His Spirit kisses, especially for us, has His life in it. Its power lies in the fact that God revealed His truth to us.

It may have been something someone said when they were preaching, and it struck us in the heart like an arrow finds the target. Or it may have been something that stood out as we were reading the bible. It could even be when we were talking to the Lord and suddenly a scripture fell down from our thinking and meditating —- where we had hidden it while we were renewing our minds – and it sank down deep inside us, into our heart where growth can begin. Wherever or however it happened, that fresh seed is now ripe for planting. It can produce a crop.

The seeds of His Word that we sow into our lives – as we daily read the bible and act on it — can behave exactly like this parable describes. Sadly some seed doesn’t even make it past 2 seconds of thought, because it has fallen upon a well worn pathway of previous knowledge, and so it is whisked away by the birds of the air … those thoughts and words that are constantly flying past us, because of everything we are exposed to in a single day. It is so easy to think: “I know that already.” Now we have a seed immediately stolen by pride.

Also in our daily bible readings, if we take the time to treasure His voice, we can sometimes discover “rocky places” in our hearts. They are not like the well-worn pathways that we barely notice, these are hard places that we try to skim over and ignore with thoughts like this: ‘The truth is, I don’t think I have to change, I think the other person should.’ The scorching heat of that bad attitude kills off the power of His precious seed, and it is killed off by negligence. Always remember that true forgiveness doesn’t keep accounts, be-ca-use … hallelujah!!… fortunately for us, Jesus doesn’t keep them either.

“The thorny ground” seeds are the places in our hearts we haven’t bothered to weed and keep watch over our wrong thinking. ‘Weeds of unbelief, or discontent or disappointment’ have flourished there. What we haven’t realised is that, spiritually speaking, any one rotten attitude can take over our thinking. So the possibility of a harvest from any seeds that are sown into the weed-filled patch, is negated. These spiritual seeds won’t receive their share of nourishment from any water and good soil, because the weeds of our wrong thinking are crowding them out, and soon the whole plant of His word, becomes sterile and unproductive.

Now let’s look at “good soil,” the stuff we are to cultivate and watch over in our hearts. Good soil not only gladly receives the seed of God’s Word;  as we act on it, that seed begins to flourish, and grow into a healthy plant. The increase in our seed production, is always up to the Lord, our part is to cultivate the soil of our hearts with humility and love. And take the time to prayerfully water and feed these His seeds with tears of repentance, and acts of sacrifice as the healthy plants begin to grow. Now we have seeds that will bear fruit and can be harvested.

As you can see, there are four different results from exactly the same seed. The seed does not change, but how it is received does. Even if we sometimes feel unsure about what we think the Lord is saying – it is our responsibility to watch over His seed and act on it accordingly. What we do with what God tells us daily, matters. How we receive it matters. Preparing our hearts to be open to change and transformation matters. A huge harvest can come from our dedication and our willingness to yield to His Ways, even to the death. Bye.  👋“They triumphed over him (satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” Revelation 12:11.

P 2274 How’s your hearing?

Have you ever had wax in your ears? Many people wage a war against ear wax. They are often forced to deny that they are going deaf.😂 The trouble with wax is it builds up slow-ly. However there are times at our house when I suggest that hubby should put his finger in his other ear so important information does not blow through. And this subject is kind of my point today. Making ‘allowances’ for any disobedience is like allowing wax to build up in our spiritual ears. It is far better to obey quickly – we can always ask Him to help us.

“Why do you call me Lord and you don’t do the things that I say.” Luke 6:46. I just love the way God hides important truths in plain sight. We can’t get anything plainer than Luke 6:46! In the parable of the sower, Jesus goes on to explain that some people don’t have spiritual ears yet. But when we give our lives to Christ we get a brand new heart, eyes to see the unseen, and a wonderful two-way radio thing going on with Holy Spirit. The Lord explains to the disciples that the reason He’s revealing the truth of the parable to them is because they now have spiritual ears. ”The sheep that are My own hear My voice and listen to Me; I know them, and they follow Me.”John 10:27 AMP’

A lot of people feel they can’t hear Him, but I want to say here and now IF Jesus Christ is the boss of your life, whether you are good at that or not, you DO have spiritual ears. If you have a problem then it could be you need to read scriptures about having ‘ears to hear’ so you can renew your mind. I talk to myself a lot inside my head. If I say to you, 2+2=…?  the place inside your head that immediately comes up with four, is where you will hear His voice.

In that place where you talk to yourself, not out loud, is where the Lord speaks to you. And here are some things I have learnt over the years about that. The Holy Spirit often sounds like that inner voice. Unfortunately, so does the other guy.  And that is where most of us fall off the twig because every thought that comes into our dear little heads is not necessarily ours. So the Lord and I have this fabulous system.

When I think what I’ve heard was from Him, I go and check in the bible and make sure what I heard is in there. I often ask Him to remind me of more than one scripture that backs up what I thought heard. Hearing the Lord is an always an ongoing developing skill. Sometimes what we hear is very appealing to us – but it’s really only our own ambition or wish-thinking. Whatever!

Sometimes the fruit of our thoughts makes it obvious who is really talking to us. But there are times when we like a thought so much, we attribute it to Him and paint it on a banner and wave that in the face of anybody who dares disagree with us. That action should immediately show us that what we thought we heard was not God … duh.🙄

Personally I hear the Lord the most clearly through His book. I’m reading away carefully and something that strikes a chord in me and I go: “Hello, what was that…” Then I do what Moses did, I pause and turn aside so I can further examine, pray over and understand whatever that captured my attention.

The amazing thing about God’s word is it’s different every time you read it. I’ve been reading it for a whole lot of years now and I always find something new I didn’t see before. I check my circumstances. If I felt God was sending me to mainland China I would want a lot more than what I thought I heard to make me go! And there would be a lot of prayer over it, and I’d get people I dearly trust to pray for me and give me their insight too.

Often, because I believe in submission, I also trust what my husband says – I do not fight for my own way. That word fight is a big clue for me about my attitude. I am exercising my faith when I trust what my husband hears, and my God LOVES faith … and submission. Here’s something for free: I do not understand how people can say they are submitted to God and they won’t submit to anybody else – I call that rebellion.

Disobedience for our own comfort’s sake has way too high a cost. It costs the Israelites 40 years in the Promised land, and some of them died. It didn’t occur to them to stop asking the Lord for an instant  answer, and start wondering if they were being disobedient. Ask the Lord ‘what haven’t I done that I was supposed to do’ – if you suddenly lose your connection with Him. Don’t be amazed if He says you haven’t forgiven … someone or other. Disobedience makes us deaf.  Better do it. Bye 👋🏻.
