P 3305 The heart of the matter.

Sin starts in our minds and imagination, but it can quite rapidly drop down from our thinking, into our hearts where it pollutes them. Actions aren’t far behind thoughts. Meanwhile satan could care less what you and I do, so long as it is not what God wants for us! A lifetime filled with distractions, suits him! But when we take this life seriously, that’s when we will meet opposition.

At the same time we could discover that our hearts, just like the Israelites in the wilderness, are yearning for the onions and garlic of Egypt – instead of wondering what our Promised land looks like! Have you ever asked yourself, what does OUR Promised land look like? Here and now, day by day? The Lord wants to take everything we know about Him in our heads, and drop those things into our hearts, with our co-operation. Our heart is the issue, and it needs protecting.

The bible says in Proverbs 4:23: “Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.”  What does that mean? It means we need to guard the springs of His Spirit life, the Holy Spirit is revealing in each one of us. Then we can daily draw fresh water out of that well. We drink from it ourselves, and we give this water away to other thirsty people.

We excuse our behaviour at our own peril! We simply can’t afford to let other things take over the focus of our hearts – Jesus is our focus…not things like entertainment! That other stuff is a waste of time. Proverbs uses the word vigilance when it comes to the things of God, which means: “the action or state of keeping careful watch for possible danger or difficulties.” In other versions that word is translated — diligenceThat is the quality of working steadily, carefully, and with great effort to complete a task properly. We need both. God’s Word needs to become flesh in us … that only happens when we prioritise His Ways.

Here’s the good news — Jesus came to earth, lived and died, and rose again, to give us the power to have this kind of vigilance and diligence. We don’t have to do this alone. He will help us! Just like a compass points north, our hearts need course correction and focus. This is why I cannot tell you what to watch on TV for instance —  enforcement of rules will not cover it. It’s about our personal choices. It’s not a mandatory thing — it’s a passion for Jesus thing. What my heart objects to, and is influenced by, won’t be the same as your heart’s response. I strongly suggest each one of us watch TV, play video games, listen to the radio, or use social media –welcoming the Holy Spirit’s guidance.

Only you, together with the Holy Spirit, can discern what pushes bad buttons in your heart.  Please note, sometimes we can remain undisturbed because of one very troubling fact. We’ve become hardened in our hearts and fallen asleep. The best answer is to find those buttons, and disconnect them, but I don’t have enough space to tackle that here. I can only give you examples to help prime the pump, so to speak. However, we cannot tackle the insidious influence of media, without the pure wisdom that comes down from above.

James 3:17 expounds what that wisdom looks like, as it flows out of us: “But the wisdom from above is first pure [morally and spiritually undefiled], then peace-loving [courteous, considerate], gentle, reasonable [and willing to listen], full of compassion and good fruits. It is unwavering, without [self-righteous] hypocrisy [and self-serving guile].”  You don’t know me, and I don’t know you, but you can see from these blogs that I am not drumming up customers for any church, or some Christian group! I have no agenda here, except to see the Body of Christ wake up at the appropriate time with their lamps filled with oil, so whenever the Lord does whatever He is going to do next, we will all be ready.

Our enemy is a deceiver. he is called the father of all lies. Yes, even the iddy-biddy no harm, no foul ones! There’s no such thing as a white lie, or even an OK lie. Because satan is the originator of lies, imagine what agreeing with them will produce? It won’t be good fruit, trust me! he will never come at people who love Jesus and want to serve the Lord, with this kind of thought: ‘let’s go rob a bank.’ Or ‘your neighbour is a pain, let’s put poison in his coffee!’ he is far more likely to whisper that it is‘ OK to cheat on your income tax because everybody else does it and the accountant said it is legal,’ Or you could end up in a conversation with someone else assassinating a third person’s character, and calling the idea prayer points!

Almighty God is searching for a people who will honour what He wants and likes, above what they like or honour.“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong in behalf of those whose hearts are blameless toward Him.” 2 Chronicles 16:9. I know He’s searching all of our hearts, even as I write this. He’s looking for a people who are serious about loving and serving Jesus. He doesn’t care what nation we are from —  or whether we are poor or rich, old or young, sick or well. He desires a people who will do more than just say ‘Amen’ to what the pastor says. These people will go out and LIVE AMEN in their daily lives to their own hurt.

We cannot afford to gloss over those things that will lead us nowhere and profit us nothing. Let’s choose to make strong specific God-given choices, and stick to them. Father God is tenderly looking for a people who will choose Him first, that’s the heart of the matter. Bye. 👋

P 3298 Live for today.

Lately I have seen so much written about the end of the world, and the rapture, and the Lord coming again, it is starting to concern me. We seem to be more interested in bailing out of this life, than accepting the challenges it brings. Maybe we want to leave behind the giant mess we have made because of our reluctance to reach out to other people. Instead of avoidance, let’s live our lives today aware of fulfilling the great commission, together with obedience, and choosing to learn to love others His way.

Sometimes it seems a bit like we would rather leave this world, than have the Lord change our behaviour. That’s a scary thought. Jesus will come when He will come, and His timing will be perfect — it always is! But I am pretty sure we are not meant to be hiding away waiting for these incredible events to happen. I don’t care if you believe in before, during or after, when it comes to the rapture. Maybe you don’t believe in it at all… and I still don’t care. I refuse to squabble with anyone about the subject of timing, something that no-one knows anything about. The bible says in Matthew 24:36: “But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but My Father only.”  That’s “I dunno” in today’s language. If Jesus doesn’t know that, how on earth can we?

I’m a disciple of Jesus Christ and have been one for a long time. I have personally had ups and downs, but He has constantly remained faithful to me. I think these things were written to warn us that we need to make the important things, the important things! So I take what the bible says literally. So if God says I don’t know something, then I don’t know it. Nor do I care to either. If it was important for me to know this information, it would be in the book! Jesus told me to be like a child, and little children accept what they are told. Teenagers, however, are a whole other ballgame.  🙄 Moving on…

Very little of the bible has repetition in exactly the same words — but the above two verses are repeated almost verbatim: “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father…” Mark 13:32. For me, fighting over this eschatological subject is just like straining out gnats and letting through camels – it is a waste of our time. My opinion changes nothing. But I can either waste my time debating about it, or choose to go out and do what He says each day. I can’t actually do both, because both will demand and take up my attention. The end of the world scenario demands opinions, conversations and obscure verses used as proof, and our focus goes off doing, into postulating. If Father God didn’t tell His Beloved Son then why the heck would He tell me? Yeah, I know I’m overly simplistic – I’ve heard that one before.

In my opinion, this end times stuff is a giant distraction from our main task, which is to walk in this world like Jesus did. It seems to be so much easier to talk about irrelevant stuff, than live the life He paid for us to live. Our confidence is in Christ, not in me knowing when the world will end. I want to spend my time going after perfect love because perfect love throws FEAR out of the door. And fear causes us to huddle behind closed doors, like the disciples did before the Holy Spirit came. But the bible says: “When the Son of Man comes will He find faith on the earth?”  Luke 18:8. I know the Lord Jesus will absolutely come back, but in the meantime, I plan on concentrating my efforts and energies on loving and serving Him, loving others, and using my faith, day by day.

We need to abstain from soaking in something that is quite clearly none of our business, and move on into the things that are. I just want to say that I’m not a big fan of the way prophetic things are sometimes used within the body of Christ. It seems it can be more about a person’s need to be seen than it is about serving one another. I’m also not happy when one gift is valued above another, we need ALL of them. Paul says this eloquently in his exposition of the gifts in Romans 12. The good gifts God Himself has given us.

In Romans 12:6-10 (V7) he says: “[He whose gift is] practical service, let him give himself to serving; he who teaches, to his teaching;…” There are two separate gifts here, side by side. Yet one has been made less of because it supposedly involves practicality. Paul tells us here we are to use the gift we’ve been given to benefit others. Personally, I have found that spiritual gifts not only bless the brethren — they also affect the-people-who-don’t-know-Him-yet. It is incredibly important that we know our place and simply stand in it under the Holy Spirit’s guidance. We are not looking for natural talents, we are looking for spiritual gifts that find a way where there seems to be no way!

Think on this. Service does not seem to be an important gift, but it is an office in the Body of Christ. It is not just about knowing how to keep the books, and making sure the rosters are filled. Serving Christ is the highest honour we have. Women in the bible are mentioned by name, simply because they served Him. Service requires just as much faith as prophecy does. We need the gifts of administration and service desperately, and they are not minor or lesser gifts. The Body of Christ cannot function without them.

God has ways for things to happen that we have not even imagined or seen yet, simply because we have relegated some roles into the natural. But the bible clearly says they are supernatural. I pray we will not be misled, there are so many influences that will excuse us or drag us away from the purity of the daily things the Lord wants us to do for His kingdom. Let’s live for Him, today. Bye. 👋

P 2785 “To each one of us …”

In the bible it says that the Lord Himself gave gifts to the church … read these scriptures along with me: But to each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. This is why it says: “When He ascended on high, He took many captives and gave gifts to His people… …” 11-13 “So Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:7-8,11-13. We don’t have to wait for our birthday, or Christmas! Jesus has given us all gifts to help us grow and know Him…NOW!

“There are different kinds of gifts. But they are all given to believers by the same Spirit. There are different ways to serve. But they all come from the same Lord. There are different ways the Spirit works. But the same God is working in all these ways and in all people. The Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. That is for the good of all.”1 Corinthians 12:4-7.

“If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly. Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honouring each other.

Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically. Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Always be eager to practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you. Don’t curse them; pray that God will bless them. Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with each other. Don’t be too proud to enjoy the company of ordinary people. And don’t think you know it all! Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honourable.” Romans 12:7-17.

Today, I want to say, loudly – that, despite how you might feel, you have a gift. Actually you could easily have more than one of them!! But don’t ask me what they are, it took me a while to figure out what I am here to do! This Grace the Lord has given me to help others, has also helped me to feel that I have a place within the Body of Christ.

Many Christians have excused themselves from being activated for His kingdom, on the grounds that they are not worthy, or clever enough, or gifted enough, or they don’t know what they are supposed to do, or they don’t have time and they hope that the Lord understands! However, we all need your contribution. You don’t have to be an evangelist standing on the back of a flat-bed truck, you simply need to live a life of Love everywhere you go, towards everyone you meet, and be prepared to give an account of the hope within you.  That will stretch everyone’s faith and your gift will rise up as a result.

The thing is, this New Covenant we share is an agreement between us and the Lord – it’s a promise that we enter into between Him and us, and it is binding. (Read the book!) Jesus covered our sins with His blood, so we can be free to live the life God planned for us to live … and it is never too late to start. Jesus deliberately provided us with SomeOne Who will always help us and never leave us. SomeOne Who will teach us His ways, and help us with the process of transformation. It’s the Holy Spirit.

One day, not long ago, I woke up and realised that my complete spiritual poverty,  is my strength.🤔 So today, the Lord asked me to remind you of your place in His Body by using His Word. The Holy Spirit wants you to know that there is a place in His plans for you. Sometimes, for a small group of people, that is a place that is seen, and for many, many, many others, they will remain unseen. But He has promised to touch us all in extraordinary ways, with supernatural gifts.. I look forward to the day when the vast, unseen multitudes of ordinary Christians step into what He has for them.

So today, I just want to encourage everybody reading this, He wants you to participate in His plan in the lives of those people you know and influence. He needs you to be you. Who you are, because of His Presence in your life, will reach others. Last of all, I want to use my favourite vehicle, the bible, to pray for you. I am totally convinced He will answer these prayers because they rely upon His faithfulness, not on anyone’s ability.

“I pray with great faith for you, because I’m fully convinced that the One who began this gracious work in you will faithfully continue the process of maturing you until the unveiling of our Lord Jesus Christ!” Philippians 1:6 TPT. “And I pray that He would unveil within you the unlimited riches of His glory and favour until supernatural strength floods your innermost being with His divine might and explosive power.” Ephesians 3:16 TPT.“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Colossians 3:23-24. Amen. God gives gifts to each one of us. Bye. 👋

P 2425 We can walk like Christ did – using our faith.

But the love of God will be perfected within the one who obeys God’s Word. We can be sure that we’ve truly come to live in intimacy with God, not just by saying, “I am intimate with God,” but by walking in the footsteps of Jesus.” 1 John 2:5-6 TPT.

And listen to this verse: “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world know(s) us not, because it knew Him not.” 1 John 3:1. This world cannot understand Jesus Christ and His mission because most of them have never ever read the bible! They have no clue there is another way to live. It is up to us to tell them. This is one of our prime objectives – to fill the earth with the knowledge of God as the waters cover the sea!

Christians have the same problems other people do, but we are no longer alone. However, sometimes our hearts need to be awakened … and in some cases re-awakened, to the incredible power of Love, forgiveness, and transformation that was actually released at Calvary. To access that power we must live this life we’ve been given … His way … instead of living for ourselves. We cannot fit Jesus into the way we were living before we met Him.  Jesus Christ’s death gave us a new way to live this new life, as well as SomeOne to help us do it. Change is always in the air!

We can walk as Jesus did by walking with the same Person He did.The Holy Spirit. Now we’ve been given a brand new heart — the same heart Christ had for His Father’s will to be done. We’ve been remade … from the inside out! The bible says: ’The just shall live by faith…’ That verse means if we are not using our faith to live — we are not fully alive in Christ.

“This new plan I’m making… isn’t going to be written on paper, isn’t going to be chiseled in stone; This time I’m writing out the plan IN THEM, carving it on the lining of their hearts. I’ll be their God, they’ll be My people. They won’t go to school to learn about Me, or buy a book called God in Five Easy Lessons. They’ll all get to know Me firsthand, the little and the big, the small and the great. They’ll get to know Me by being kindly forgiven, with the slate of their sins forever wiped clean. Hebrews excerpt 8:6-13. MSG (Read Ezekiel 11:9; 36:26.)

We cannot change our own hearts. Trust me, I’ve tried, and failed … and I’m guessing you have too!! The very minute we think we are getting it right … pride gets us. And if we get it wrong … shame gets us. 😱 This kind of transformation only comes about as we deliberately choose to obey what Jesus said. That stuff in the bible is not a whole lot of suggestions that we can ignore if we find those things too hard! It’s full of instructions to show us what this new way of life looks like – so we can live that way with the Helper in charge.

The bible is not a magic book, full of spells and incantations that we can quote to make this life easier! It is a description of what the people who know their God and do great exploits look like! That’s why there are also people in it who messed up, big time. The bible has stories about all kinds of people in its pages. By reading it we can see that without Him — without listening to, and deliberately following Jesus — human beings are capable of horrific despicable things.

This new life that we have been given, does not mean we ignore the dumb sinful stuff we have accumulated in our lives over the years. Now we use this time we have been given, to walk out that new way to live – past and present. It means saying NO to some of our favourite things. It will mean repenting in front of people who’ve hurt us – because there are people we’ve barely tolerated. It will mean caring if we have lots, and other people have NONE.

A new heart means a totally different response. It’s not about pretending bad things didn’t happen and hoping that will do – this heart brings with it a Holy Spirit-filled new reaction. It releases HIS GRACE, everywhere. Now our responses to awful circumstances will sometimes even surprise US! Now, we actively remember, Jesus took everyone’s sin awaywhether they believe in Him or not. The people who have hurt us have no more power to change than we do unless they follow Him too! After all, we had no power to change before we met Him, and we know we’ve hurt others, then and now.

SomeBody Else paid that debt we owed. He sent us the same Holy Spirit He walked with to help us to walk like He did. He forgave, so we forgive. He prayed for those who hurt Him, and now, we do that too. He was tolerant toward those who lived by religion, and so are we. We have the power to obey Him, because the Holy Spirit will help us.

This means we understand our mission: we are to use the faith God gave us to transform our lives, and enrich the lives of others … by loving, giving and serving. That’s going to mean we will use our faith – all the time! 🥰

P 2237 Becoming like Jesus is meant to be costly.

Philippians 2:5-11 “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man,…

He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,  in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Jesus is our example. The bible tells us that He had a singular mindset. He had a job to do and He did it. Even though He IS God, He did not use that fact to His own advantage. Imagine that. He had a special place with Almighty God’s favour and He did not use it to benefit Himself. Wow. That sure turns some theology on its head eh? Not only did He centre His thoughts on His Father’s agenda for His life, and subsequent death, Christ actively made Himself nothing. Some people around Him at that time were so unimpressed by Him that they could not accept who He was … because His Facebook page was not well liked. He only had 12 followers!

God Himself becoming a man is HUGE. Then Jesus topped that by serving us while He was here, and after He left! I get annoyed at people who take what the Lord did and use it to try and nag Him to give them this that or the other. How can we call ourselves His followers when we are looking for some benefit or angle? We are here to serve, both the Lord as well as each other – anything else is classified as… ‘all these things shall be added unto you …!’

But first, comes the kingdom. The Christian life is about focus. Every now and then we all need a reality check, what is our central focus? Devotion to Christ and His words – or –  whatever will be to my advantage? Christianity is not a gimme club. It is a conscious conviction and choice that this life is not all there is, so we choose to use our time here to do the things we’ve personally been assigned, to further His kingdom. Whatever that looks like, wherever you happen to be.

In the past 8 days His love looked like my husband cooking all the meals, and driving 1500 kms with a sore hand. Unfortunately I was unwell for most of the time we were away, I am still wrangling with my health now, so I was no help to him. He did all of it so gladly without complaining. Plus he did stuff like loading up the car, then unloading it.

He has to help me with showers – showers are often the wrong shape for someone like me – climbing into a bath to take a shower is like climbing Mt. Everest – forget about how slippery it is! He prepares all the food, we do not eat the same things, so he prepares 2 meals for every single meal. He got up at least twice during the night for 5 nights in a row to get cold packs for my vastly overheated face. Yet he STILL stopped for the one in front of us over and over again, as the Lord led us. My hubby is my inspiration. He has visibly taught me to love others in a sacrificial fashion because of his daily efforts to facilitate my life.

In our time away we gave away 386 things, in 6 days – I was so unwell for 2 other days he had to look after me. Those thing included 285 bibles, 21 bookmarks, plus three $30 supermarket cards, 4 thank you cards with $5 for coffee for the maids and cleaners. We spoke to people in caravan parks, motels, as well as a women’s refuge, and a shelter for the homeless. We left at least three people who had never ever read the bible before, with a bible and they said they were going to read it right away. I wonder if we realise that it is not easy for non-Christians to find a bible in today’s society. Even if the person went looking for one there are too many other things to distract them!

Hubby also gave away 9 of his paintings. The recipients cried. Some of them had tears dripping off their faces, and others started to cry the minute he began to speak. We also gave 12 prophetic words to totally unchurched people. I said all that to finally say this – if we do not go – who will tell them? Jesus humbled Himself, and became a man just like us, to give us the power to humble ourselves and become like Him. You won’t find a finer destiny than that one. 👋🏻
