P3507 Surprise!! It’s Jesus in YOU!

“There is a divine mystery—a secret surprise that has been concealed from the world for generations, but now it’s being revealed, unfolded and manifested for every holy believer to experience. Living within you is the Christ Who floods you with the expectation of glory! This mystery of Christ, embedded within us, becomes a heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with the riches of glory for His people, and God wants everyone to know it!” Colossians 1:26-27 TPT. Just stop for a moment and think about it.

The way to be closer to Jesus, know more about Him, is to participate in His Ways. Read the book, and do what you already know, using your faith.. Life presents us all with so many opportunities to utilise our faith. Ordinary everyday things happen, you are running late, and you need a carpark – hands up those who ask the Lord to help them park? ✋ I’m disabled, I always need one!

We pray before we go to the shops. We ask Him to help us only buy the things He wants us to have. Many times we buy nothing but we still have fun! Perhaps some driver does something stupid on the road in front of you, do you ask the Lord for help? I am learning to bless that person with better driving skills and an encounter with Jesus, and I thank God that we were all kept safe… including the other driver.

That’s the secret BTW, remember to thank Him. Don’t just treat the Lord like the drive-through at MacDonalds … acknowledge whatever He does. Ask Him for eyes to see Him at work in your life. “In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:6. The more we acknowledge Him the more He becomes part of our lives — and that’s how we end up with more of Jesus in our lives. We simply refuse to leave Him out!  We are living-for-Jesus spiritual beings. We live this life with heaven on our minds. All of us can have as much of Jesus as we want – just don’t leave Him out! Live a life of love, daily. (1 Corinthians 13, clearly tells us what that looks like!)

He promised to be with us always — always means always! Duh! As we live this new life Jesus bought and paid for, we seek the things of His kingdom first. Acknowledge your King in everything you do. Don’t walk away from your new life In Christ by acting like everyone else around you, but we gave up those options. Now we ask the Lord to come with us, and He will go anywhere — He went to HELL, so nothing surprises Him! If you do go to play in the devil’s backyard, and you know exactly what I mean … then the Lord’s voice inside will warn you, but then He will quietly fade away. It is as if He says: “Have at it!” Repent!

We have all been given faith — the book says so. (Romans 12:3) However, I rarely feel like I have faith … I have to use my faith to find it; but that verse from Colossians above is not just a happy thought! You have Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God inside you! Let Him out!! Faith cannot develop in a vacuum, so we must actively participate in the Lord’s work – whether we feel like we can, or not. Just take one step, then take another … and pretty soon it will become a lifestyle, not a place you visit when the ceiling falls in.

Here’s some more good news about having Jesus IN us! “But you are God’s chosen treasure —priests who are kings, a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience His marvellous light, and now He claims you as His very own. He did this so that you would broadcast His glorious wonders throughout the world.” 1 Peter 2:9 TPT.

So if people ask the Lord: ‘who is that old lady?’ The Lord smiles and says: “She’s with Me.” What an honour, to live a life in service to the King! He picked us. Did you realise that we can ruin HIS reputation by the way we act when we think no-one is looking? Meanwhile someone is always looking, it’s inevitable in this world’s obsessive atmosphere. But as we fall in love with Jesus, the Jesus portrayed in the bible, we begin to see that correction, and discipline, are not bad things – they are His love in action in our lives.

Christ lives in us and our job is to let Him out by acting like He would. My advice is to get to know your bible, read it, then do it. All the time. The Lord quotes the bible to me often! Half the time I don’t even remember where the verses are, I have to go away and look them up. That’s all good! Having our noses inside what Jesus says and does, has to be good for us! Surprise! It’s Jesus! And He wants to walk with YOU. “Christ IN us, the hope of glory!” (Colossians 1:27). Bye. 🥳.

P3503 Live in this minute.

“Anxious fear brings depression, but a life-giving word of encouragement can do wonders to restore joy to the heart.” Proverbs 12:25 TPT. Anxiety can seem quite normal under very difficult circumstances. When I read this, and other challenging bits of the bible, my first temptation is to check out what it says against my own experiences. This means I can easily get stuck on the bit up to the comma! If we check out what the Word says against our own experiences, we will find that a whole bunch of negative thoughts can assail our minds and emotions. Plus the other guy is delighted to pile on more!

It is absolutely essential that I understand that not every thought in my head comes from me. I am in a war, and the devil knows how to throw up all kinds of future situations and past defeats onto the screen of my mind. If he can affect my emotions, then he has me on his hook. The good news is – a fisherman will tell you that many a fish has jumped about so much it got itself off the hook, and went merrily on its way. My advice is — don’t give in. Fight the temptation to try to deal with the enemy’s wiles on your own – instead remind yourself that Jesus died for all the things we’ve done, past, present and future. Then cry out for “HELP!”

We all know that we can still choose to sin, and miss the mark, and let the Lord, other people, and ourselves down. Paul gives us the Lord’s answer in Romans 7:24,25: “What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, Who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!…” It’s past and present tense – the work has already been done. We’ve been delivered and it is still going on. Now we put our faith in what Christ has done for us. It’s there in our bank. Rescue has come, just climb into Christ’s boat, and make a faith withdrawal!

My best advice is to drop whatever it is that has captured and hooked you, and jump into the river of His unchanging, never-ending love — repenting all the way!! Throw off the things that seek to hold you down and remind satan that Jesus WON. Done deal. If you need back-up then phone a prayerful friend. The battle for victory lies in what God Himself has already done and said. Not in what’s going on around you, and in your feelings. Forget what might happen, or what happened before. Glory to God, our past is gone, dead and buried with Christ, and we need to leave it there! Now we are here to proclaim His kingdom, which is full of His life.

I want to address something that can shoot anyone of us in the foot before we start. It is this – we need to learn to watch our speech. If we want to overcome the temptation to mull over bad news, here is a good rule of thumb. If it is bad, pray about it, then give it to Jesus, and ask the Holy Spirit: “Set a watch over my mouth please Lord.” Let’s not let our emotions lead us, the Holy Spirit loves to do that.

“And never let ugly or hateful words come from your mouth, but instead let your words become beautiful gifts that encourage others; do this by speaking words of grace to help them. The Holy Spirit of God has sealed you in Jesus Christ until you experience your full salvation. So never grieve the Spirit of God or take for granted His holy influence in your life. Lay aside bitter words, temper tantrums, revenge, profanity, and insults. But instead be kind and affectionate toward one another. Has God graciously forgiven you? Then graciously forgive one another in the depths of Christ’s love.” Ephesians 4:29-32 TPT.

By the way, if we focus onto what is going wrong, we can easily miss the blessing that is available, now. The secret to deliverance, is to live in what we have been given, NOW! We’ve all messed up somewhere, somehow, so after we have repented and repaired stuff, and done what He has asked us to do, let’s deliberately decide to choose to stand still, and live our lives for Him now. We don’t have tomorrow, we have to seize this day. Hand it over to Him.

Then I deal with my attitudes or any incoming problems. Those things are a bit like a parcel. I hand them over the same way I would treat posting stuff at the Post Office. When I post stuff I give it to the person behind the counter, and I trust them to take care of it. Hand it over, and then trust God to lead you and get you out. Every time I am tempted to help the Lord out — I stop, repent and hand it back again.

This is what the bible means when it says: “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” Proverbs 3:6. In all times and all places we go to Him. So now, I am actively: “…casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].” 1 Peter 5:7.

Did you see that? We do what He says and give it to Him. Cast means throw. Throw the difficulties onto our Saviour. He has already dealt with them. Our God is not careless with our hearts, He is protective. The knowledge that we can give Him our cares and concerns holds us secure. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of conviction, not condemnation. Stop and pray. Let’s deal with stuff immediately, and keep on trusting the Lord – He’s the One Who never sleeps!

If we project our problems into the future we can lose heart and give up. If we concentrate on our past, we’ll drown in it! Let’s choose to live in what Jesus has already done, just for this minute, and then take each minute one at a time. Bye.👋.

P 3364 Living aware of His care.

“We pray that you’ll live well for the Master, making Him proud of you as you work hard in His orchard. As you learn more and more how God works, you will learn how to do your work. We pray that you’ll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul—not the grim strength of gritting your teeth but the glory-strength God gives. It is strength that endures the unendurable and spills over into joy, thanking the Father Who makes us strong enough to take part in everything bright and beautiful that He has for us.” Colossians 1:11,12.

I’ve talked previously about pruning and the results, so today I’d like to mention that we don’t have to learn this stuff in a vacuum. Our God is always with us wherever we go, in the Person of the Holy Spirit. I’m His biggest fan! I love to watch Him at work, even in the little things. When we look for His input in our everyday lives, we can find Him, quietly working away behind the scenes.

Above today’s text there’s a picture of something that reminds me of Him in action. I enjoy watching sheep dogs working, protecting and rounding up sheep. Those clever dogs go this way and that, and sometimes it seems like the dumb sheep have no clue what is good for them. But the sheepdogs persevere, darting about with boundless energy. They are always on the look-out for danger to the sheep to keep them safe.

In the same way, we may not aways understand why the Holy Spirit is doing whatever He is doing in our lives. But we can be sure of one thing – His mission is to keep every single sheep safe and lead them to where they are meant to be. We may not ‘feel like ‘ He is there, but He promised to be with us, so let’s choose to believe Him. The more we learn His ways, the more we can recognise when He is at work for His will and pleasure in our own lives, and the lives of others around us. Ask Him to help you see through His eyes.

The secret is in our own stickability, and the precious Holy Spirit will even help us with that! “And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.” Galatians 6:9. “That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.” 2 Corinthians 4:16. “That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man.” Ephesians 3:16.

Jesus did not leave us alone to work out this life by ourselves. Thank you Lord! So we have every reason to keep on going. Even if we sometimes give up on ourselves, the Holy Spirit is there, whispering to us: “Keep going, we’ve got this, I’m here to help you.” He is not an inactive observer. He abounds in Grace toward us and He doesn’t count our missteps or mistakes—He’s the One Who continually reminds us that Jesus died for all our sins. Hubby and I have found that when we go on the road, we simply become His hands and feet. You don’t have to raise the dead to witness, you simply have to walk in Love and leave the rest to Him.

You will never find a more willing participant in your ministry, than the Holy Spirit. It is His joy and pleasure to help us. The biggest clue is in His Name. HOLY Spirit. To walk with Him we cannot live to please ourselves anymore. Instead we need to proactively remind ourselves that Jesus died to give us His holiness, His right standing with our Father, and His Grace to finish whatever Father God has asked us to do. So we must lay aside ours. Our inheritance is vast, and often remains unclaimed. Sometimes that is because we focus on what we can’t do, instead of what Jesus has already done.

“The heavens declare the glory of God;  the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.” Psalm 19:1,2. I try to look UP, as well as look carefully, and prayerfully in the mirror of His Word. Looking at ourselves will just intimidate us because without Him we can do nothing. The One Who put those stars, those planets, the moon, and the sun there with His fingertips, is inside you! He wants to work with us: “[Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energising and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.” Philippians 2:13.

There have been times in my life when it felt like He was not with me, but we cannot afford to go by our feelings. The One Who put the desire to please Him, or the sadness for letting Him down is the One Who is reminding us He’s still there! He promises in the book, to work “…all things together for our good.” Including the spirit of stupid that sometimes falls on all of us!  He is far, far more generous, than we are able to understand. Whisper His Name, ask for His help. He’s always the Answer, not people.

Living well isn’t about getting stuff right, it is about pressing in, even if you don’t feel like getting out of bed. Let’s take our focus off us and how we feel and continue to praise Him for His consistency while we are doing it. Praise and thank the Lord that His motivation is love, not performance, and live aware of His care for you.  “In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].” Proverbs 3:6. Amen and Amen! Bye 👋

P 2765 Jesus just wants you.

“A thief has only one thing in mind—he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect —life in its fullness until you overflow!”John 10:10 TPT. Let’s LET Him decide what abundant life looks like for you.

We can get stuck on verses like this one, especially when we think we already know what an abundant life should look like! Unfortunately this means we are trusting in our own understanding not in the Lord’s guidance. No matter what our situation is, whether it is good or bad, we need to ask Him for His input. Otherwise if a disaster falls on us suddenly, we can end up judging God’s integrity by what has happened. But the bible says:“The rain falls on the just and the unjust.” We can only see in part, Almighty God sees the whole picture and … He has a plan. Trusting in God’s goodness and faithfulness is an essential part of the Christian life.

This world has been making so much noise and fuss lately that without His help and daily input – I think it is difficult to see anything clearly. Opinions fly about like butterflies in the spring! The thing to cling to in any sort of trouble is His goodness and faithfulness. “He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.” Psalm 91:4. He said it, we believe it – that’s the end of it!

The Lord disciplines and teaches us His ways for a reason – He wants us to be SAFE no matter what is going on – and He values our faith. So we humble ourselves before Him, and wait for Him to speak to us. Things may not always look that great from our end while we are in the middle of this process — but we need to learn to resist the devil, and that means he has to leave!

Because it was good enough for Jesus to follow the Holy Spirit then it is good enough for us too. He will tell us what to do: “This the enemy – fight it.’ OR … “This is My will for you, just keep on walking. We are not there yet.” Almighty God has His Way of doing things, and we need to learn to yield to His processes – instead of trying to avoid them. He is refining us. Let’s not be fair weather friends — let’s choose to grow into being a faithful fiancé! The Holy Spirit knows how to prepare Jesus’ Bride. We don’t. We just like an easy life!

Isaiah said this sad edict about God’s kids: 5:12b”…but they have no regard for the deeds of the Lord, no respect for the work of His hands.” It is foolish, BTW, to read these words as if they only apply to the Jewish people, instead, ask the Lord – ‘do I do that?’  Read the bible like He is talking to you, even if you don’t understand what it says, or why He is saying it! He is a faithful God and He is looking for a faithful people. That means in good times or bad, we keep on seeking Him.

It says in Proverbs 3:6: ”In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].” Instead of ticking boxes when we read, or perhaps excusing ourselves, instead ask the Lord: “Where am I not acknowledging YOU?” The bible contains diagnostic tools that only work when we apply them to ourselves. Be humble – ask questions. Wait for Him to talk to you, before you excuse yourself. I have fallen down the ‘excuses’ hole many times, and then I started to see that I was dodging the Holy Spirit’s conviction! We are not right in our selves, we are MADE right in Jesus. God’s love includes correction.

Humility is a strange thing – it is much more than just self-effacement. It is an attitude of our hearts. My bible says that ‘our hearts can be deceitfully wicked above all else’ and I’ve caught mine out loads of times protecting itself. If you aren’t like that, I urge you to start thanking the Lord and don’t stop. What a gift you have been given! Humility begins when we realise what we are not, and we begin to see everything HE IS. In the face of His true holiness, that pious stuff we make up to look spiritual, crumbles instantly.

To be Holy we need to deliberately stay under the blood of Jesus. That means respecting and obeying God is …IN;  but rebellion against His will is …OUT.  Wishing you could whack someone around their ear-hole is … OUT. Secretly looking at others lustfully is OUT. You can make up your own list, but the point is, we may fool our friends, rabbits and relations but we can’t fool Him.

Jesus Himself gives us the most wonderful key to overcoming all sorts of things in the Beatitudes. “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:3. Recognise you are poor! Then live poor, and be needy. Need His help and instruction. We do not have to know everything. We are HIS. We gave our lives away – which means we don’t have them anymore!  Now we get to work alongside Him, and watch Him do stuff. Jesus just wants YOU. Bye. 🥰
