P 3491 God has a bigger plan for your life.

Over the centuries, the church has progressively lost God’s plan. Today we are far too busy counting who belongs to our little group and who doesn’t. Jesus’ last resting place on earth was a tomb, and normal living people don’t live in tombs, if they can avoid it! A tomb is a jail unless you break out of it. The Body of Christ has been held captive for far too long in a tomb. We’ve been fragmented and separated from one another by rules and laws and opinions. Even today, we are still straining out gnats and letting through camels… and our inaction is one of those blooming camels! Tombs are only good for dead things!

Father God loves to bless His kids, however blessing us is not all He wants from us. When we make our Heavenly Father into SomeOne Who is merely here to help us, we are reducing the power of Calvary. Our Father’s plan is so much bigger than a cross or a tomb. God made room for all of His glory to descend upon all human flesh. (Acts 1:8.) We’ve proven, over the past 2000+ years we cannot transform ourselves into vessels fit for the Master’s use. We need to be familiar with, and walking in His Grace and His Way of love, in order to walk with the Holy Spirit. This kind of walking changes us. You can’t walk with Jesus and be selfish. The two things are incompatible.

You may have noted that I hardly ever talk about when I think Jesus is coming back, I have other things to do. I don’t talk about it, because I want to be too busy doing what He sent me here to do, until that comes! If we think that He is coming soon, then we could easily slip into simply waiting for Him to come, and bunkering ourselves down, inside what we already believe. Instead of pressing on, under His guidance. There is more of Him for us to know this side of heaven. There’s far deeper reconciliation between people as well as denominations. Not just words, but true heart reconciliation, and we get to bring it with us – everywhere we go.

Just because we know the Lord will come back, that does not mean now we can lay back and wait, simply because we are all safe, bound for glory — singing happy songs, week by week, in our churches. There is such an urgency in the Spirit for us to move, individually, and corporately. That will be hard. It seems we’ve all been too busy building a life outside of Christ. “When Christ, Who is our life, appears …” Colossians 3:4. Thoughts like these should be uppermost in our minds. “Or do you not realize about yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you?” 2 Corinthians 13:5.

There has never been this many bible-believing Christians in the whole of history. There are a billion of us, and approximately 8.32 billion human beings altogether. That means you and I have approximately 8 and a third people each! Sadly nearly all of us are leaving the work He gave us to do, to someone else – like a pastor, prophet, someone with a healing gift or teacher. Maybe we avoid witnessing because it makes us feel uncomfortable – it was more than uncomfortable on that cross.

We must learn to follow the Holy Spirit’s leading. This means our flesh has to die, in order for the Holy Spirit to flourish in us. Prayer is great – do it! But let your prayers lead your feet into action. Live for Jesus, let everything else that wants to capture your attention, fade away.

The Lord wants us to be pressing in and pressing on, not just floating about – waiting to be rescued from this problem and that situation. The disciples died thinking Jesus was going to come back any minute for them. He did come for them – however, they still died waiting, first! We can spend a lifetime trying to figure out when He is coming back, when Jesus clearly said “No man knows the hour etc!”  Let’s buy back the days while we can!

This world is SICK, and sometimes Christians are contributing to it. We can’t get along with our neighbours, and we barely manage emergency compassion, let alone living a life of love. Father God has done everything He can to reconcile mankind back to Himself, as well as reconcile us back to each other. He is totally committed. Are we? Jesus Himself, handed this ministry over to us, and gave us  the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God is not here so we can speak in tongues, or feel good … He’s our Empowerer! Doing things His way will change our lives.

Today, in our world, there are Christians who have lost everything they have, family, friends, a way of life, a place in society … all this and more, simply because they’ve chosen to follow Jesus. Now they live their lives standing on what Jesus said. They don’t have our Western choices, they live their new life wholeheartedly, because they value what they’ve been given. These people know what cost is. Often we think cost is about somebody being rude to us, and we refrain from  punching them in the face.

Our spiritual enemies look harmless. However, they want to woo, win and deceive us by encouraging us to do whatever we want whenever we want it. Encouraging us to pitch a tantrum if we can’t! We cannot afford to leave His work to someone else. You and I know people no-one else knows. Father God has a bigger plan for your life. You may speak to thousands, or only speak to one – but He has a plan for you. Let’s stop hypothesising about when He is coming back, and begin to live this life as laid-down lovers of Jesus.

We are wasting the time God has given us, right here and now. Christianity is not an add on, a PS to our real life. Unless Jesus Himself is our real life we are in big trouble, spiritually. I plan to follow Jesus … so wherever He goes, I go. Bye. 👋.

P 2745 Are you a policeman … or a shepherd?

Our police force upholds our laws. He or she can throw people acting badly into jail, particularly if the law agrees with them. They can and probably will get rough with you, if you get rough with them … or if you hurt someone else. If we are not breaking the law, then we are in no danger of being accosted by a policeman. Personally, I smile and say ‘hello officer’ and just go about my business. People who don’t break the law don’t have to worry about the police.

I watch TV news occasionally, and I have seen the unruly crowds of truly dumb people provoking officers of the law who have a large shield, a face mask, a helmet, steel capped boots, a baton, and a gun! 😳 Now there’s the spirit of stupid on steroids!! These misguided protesters are trying to make a point whilst yelling abuse in someone’s ears and waving banners and charging at them. It seems to me that they are shouting at the wrong people! Sadly, we need the police because human beings cannot always be trusted to act in a rational, loving, manner toward each other.

On the other hand, shepherds watch their sheep, their flock is the centre of their thoughts and hearts. They look out for danger, and make sure that they are leading the sheep to good food and water. However, lest we think that shepherds are always nice, I would like to mention that shepherds have something I call a whacker! A nice long bit of hard wood with a knob on the end. Shepherds protect their sheep with said whacker. Some people call it a shepherd’s crook. The shepherd’s crook is useful to fish sheep out of water, as well as thorny bushes and holes. It is also useful for bopping dumb sheep on the head if they keep wandering off, or biting other sheep!

Now, the whacker doesn’t really hurt the sheep, because the idea is to stun the stupid creature into some semblance of sense — not to have roast lamb on Sunday. Besides, it is a well known fact sheep have really really hard skulls. Nowadays, we also have brilliant dogs who are well trained and they nip at the heels of any silly wandering sheep and bark loudly at them. Because said sheep are easily frightened, they run away from the beast that bites. Not so dumb after all! Let’s hope that we don’t just see the creature as a potential lamb sandwich with pickles.

If the riotous, aforementioned, sheeple crowd had a brain in their heads, they too would run away from the lines of armed police, before they get injured. Some public figure idiot with a big mouth told our citizens that they have the right to say whatever they want to say. They call that free speech. That is a rumour. In other countries that law applies, but it is not part of this country’s constitution. Which is why it is best not to go on a protest!

So here I am, back at my point, after meandering on about like a sheeple for a while. I will refresh my question:  in your family —  are you a policeman or a shepherd? Do you enforce the law? Maybe you have grave concerns that the rules must be kept or bad things will happen? Are you prepared to use force, vocal or otherwise, to maintain those rules? OR, are you a shepherd, daily walking and leading your sheep, watching out for good water, and green pastures? Are you willing to do whatever is required to rescue a dumb sheeple if it becomes necessary?  You are there to lead, and guide, and care for your own personal flock.

What do you think is more important to you? Maintaining some sort of unwritten status quo, so you can cope with your already overcrowded busy life whilst trying to fit your kids in around everything else? Or raising loving human beings who care about the next guy? Ministers and pastors aren’t the only people who have a flock, parents do as well. Is it your aim to be the kind of shepherd that will go after a lost sheep, as well as carry an injured one home? Or do you rule your family with a rod of iron whilst standing safely behind your shield of –“I’m the boss!”

Let’s see what God says by looking at a couple of Psalms, 127:3&4: “Children are an inheritance from the Lord. They are a reward from Him. The children born to a man when he is young are like arrows in the hand of a warrior.” Psalm 102:28:“The children of Your servants will live in Your presence;  their descendants will be established before You.”

Lastly, I just want to mention that the police are great but they are dispassionate, they are doing a job. They are enforcing rules for societal good. In contrast, a true shepherd is passionate, he cares for every single sheep, knows it by name, and will go to great lengths to keep it safe. Our children are the arrows of the present we fire into the future. What will you and I leave behind us — the memory of a policeman or a shepherd? In the school holidays I had a tendency to turn into a policeman — just to survive! Bye …👋

P 2395 Talking to other people.

There was a time when I had to sort of prime myself into speaking to someone else about the Lord Jesus. Fear of rejection and disapproval from them… as well as thoroughly annoying someone else to the point where they might punch me on the nose …  held me back! However, the Lord has been teaching me that when my focus is on how I feel, or what is happening to me etc. I am not walking in, or focussed, on His Love. Actually I am probably more focussed on self-preservation! His Love is ‘other’ centred. My faith needs to be focussed on the other person – not how I feel. That’s what witnessing is about.

It is my opinion that many people do not witness because it IS scary and it seems intrusive. In today’s PC world, proselytising is a big fat no-no. Now that’s a word you don’t see very often any more – proselytising – it means: convert or attempt to convert (someone) from one religion, belief, or opinion to another. That is not our aim. Our aim is to release the love of God, Who we know personally, into someone else’s life.

When I witness, I want to do so in a natural fashion, telling others about what Jesus means to me. That’s it. We are not trying to change someone’s mind, we are introducing them to a whole new world they don’t know about. That thought is this – people are precious to God, and He personally did something about the things that stop us from enjoying His love. ← And that would be a full stop right there!

We don’t have to give other people the 24 spiritual laws, or argue them into His kingdom. Most times if we argue with someone we are talking to their mind, or their emotions. What we want is to release the kindness, love, compassion and wisdom of the Holy Spirit INTO their lives – so He can do what He does far better than we can!  I’ve personally watched the Holy Spirit go right round someone’s brain and hit them in the heart. Countless times. How does that happen? I simply say or do, what He tells me to say! And, big clue here, what I say is hardly ever complicated. “He loves you” is not complicated!

Our part in this kind of life is to stay close to the Holy Spirit! He’s the Wind! He knows when to blow on someone else’s life – or not. Sometimes we may not need to say anything. Just living an ordinary laid-down life of love says it all. What do I mean by that? It means that I live my life believing that He is exactly Who He says He is, and I put Him and His wishes first. He is in charge of everything about me, because I asked Him to save me. I gave up my right to run my own life my own way when I said: “Yes.”  Now my only aim when I talk to other people, is to let the Love of God shine through me, however HE wants to do it. That love comes from Him, through me, to them.

The second thing that always helps me to talk to others, is this – learn to listen. When you are talking to someone because the Lord set it up – our life experiences often don’t matter. Let them talk about theirs. Just listen and don’t sermonise or judge. Let Love rule! Learn to listen with your heart not your head. Talk about Jesus as you know Him, personally.

I know this sounds a bit daft, but talk about the Lord like you and He just had a coffee, and you were chatting together. Hopefully you have actually been just chatting with Him, because you were praying and studying the bible today!  Be reverent and respectful, about Who He is and what He did, but let people see your own personal relationship with Him. He’ll tell you what to say and what not to say. If I were talking to someone else about any friend of mine I might say: “Oh my Friend Jesus said this to me the other day.” That’s what I mean by natural.

Most people in this world think Christians follow rules that other people can’t, or don’t want to follow. They have no idea that we have a relationship with the greatest Person in the Universe and beyond. They need to know that our relationship with Him is personal – He is the God Who is always there. Sometimes, when I am giving away my bookmarks, I say: “Jesus asked me to give you this. He picked this one for you.” Because He did! He told me give that particular person that bookmark. Time and time again I am amazed at the other person’s response.

When we sow an earthly seed, we poke it into the ground and walk away. The same thing is true spiritually. All over this world seeds need to be sown. The Lord told me once: “You can’t have a harvest if you don’t sow seeds!” Witnessing is simply sowing seeds. Most earthly seeds are pretty insignificant. They often bear very little resemblance to the final product. But that seed has potential. Talking to other people in a natural fashion about what you believe is planting a seed with potential. 👋🏻

Acts 1:8 (NIV) “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
