Our justification before Almighty God is based entirely on what Jesus did for us. He came to earth, totally identified with mankind, and chose to die in our place. That fact continually amazes me …. What amazing love! What an incredible exchange! 🙌 The Father, His Son, and the Holy Spirit have such a passionate love for humanity, wherever we are, no matter what we have done. Always remember, Jesus knows how hard this life can be. Because of what He did for us, now we are DEAD, DEAD, DEAD, DEAD, dead! All dead – so we live like we are DEAD!

The blood of Jesus washes away every single bit of our ugliness, carelessness, spite, anger, rage and wanting what we know we cannot have. Now, because of the freedom from fear of reprisal, and the power of God given to us to live like Jesus did – it’s time to put this AWAY world’s junk and LIVE for Him. God is no longer angry with mankind – all His anger was spent on Jesus. Now let’s ask some questions: what are we doing with what our Saviour DIED to give us? Do we squander it by living this life doing whatever we want to do? Or pay Him lip service on Sundays, while we live for ourselves Monday through to Saturday? What should our response be? Romans 5:1-6,8-11,16b, has the answer: 

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, Who has been given to us. 

You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly… … But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life! Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation… … The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification.”

Have you ever told a lie, thought an unclean thought, or wanted to seriously hurt someone else – even in your head? God calls that, and many many other things, sin. In His kingdom, that which is not LOVE is SIN! Instead of all of us facing punishment, Father God chose to give us the opportunity and power to live this life glorifying the One Who gave us so much. Jesus is with us in Person, day by day. 

Thank God, our ignorance or rebellion, has not cancelled out the magnitude of what was done on our behalf. The Lord Jesus made us right with Almighty God, and it cost Him everything this world had to offer, to do it for us. He paid our outstanding debt! A legal contract that eliminated what we owed forever, washed clean in His blood. Before we knew Him, we had no inkling of need, or even the personal power to gain that kind of incredible favour for ourselves. We’ve been tainted by sin since the moment we were born – even the sin of our forefathers still haunts us. His LOVE toward us, is the reason we are compelled into action.

After Jesus Christ died He went to hell and He defeated death. It had a legal right to claim all of us. He went there for us, as our proxy, the One Who chose to face satan in our place. But hell could not keep Him there because satan could not find one reason to punish the sinless, spotless Lamb of God! He had no legal reason to accuse Jesus. our enemy had to let the Lord go, because Jesus never sinned, in thought, word or deed. Everything He ever did, said, or thought, was done from Love’s motivation..

He took away every legal right satan had to torment mankind forever … and then …Holiness entered the halls of hell! Now satan cannot keep anyone there who has given their life to the Lord because he has no legal ground to stand on. Faith in what was done on our behalf is our only response. We’ve sinned, but SomeOne Else overpaid the bill for us and satan has been legally tied up. he has no recourse – except to deceive us into thinking we don’t qualify …or torture us with past sins … or get us to totally focus on getting what we want in this life. When we call upon the Name of Jesus to save us, we move from this world’s kingdom into God the Father’s kingdom. Our faith in what Christ did justifies us, gives us His peace, and releases God’s grace to live this life the way Jesus Himself would. 

We no longer belong to this world. We have an allegiance, a loyalty to the One Who paid it all to save us from ourselves. So much grace was released by what Christ did, that the power of sin over us has been broken, forever! No matter how we feel, or whatever temptation crosses our path, we don’t have to live that old life anymore. Daily we choose to live, by faith, in His kingdom where LOVE has all the power. We live  voluntarily, giving away that love, for His sake. When we choose to step away from sin, or accepting its premises, we find that now we have the power to defeat it. That’s the very best response! Bye. 👋.

P 2720 If we want to see the Lord work …

…then we are going to have to take risks. It’s that simple. Father God isn’t into safety, He doesn’t have to be – He’s where safety comes from! I’d add ‘DUH’ to that sentence but it seems a bit rude, so you will have to imagine it instead. 😂 I could also talk about the many interesting side effects of living by faith, but one of the primary benefits is that it isn’t ever boring. Nothing about our God is boring!!

Let’s briefly look at how you or I could talk to our neighbours about Jesus. Start by asking the Lord to provide you with an opportunity. In our experience that particular prayer works a treat. I’m often housebound for long periods of time so I literally have to pray this kind of encounter into our house! After I pray that, I pray for Him to stick a big sign on the circumstances that says: ‘opening’ or ‘space for me to share about what I believe’ … because I’m as dumb as a rock and I have been known to miss what I asked for!  Witnessing keeps us on our toes. It keeps grace going IN and OUT … but… sometimes, in the light of full disclosure … you can also land on your head! That’s OK, we can all do with a big dose of humility. 

All we need to be able to witness to others is a desire to please the Lord. We know from His book that He loves it. I mean …  … He really really loves it when His people talk about Him to others. That action shatters the never-spoken-about glass ceiling that Christians like to hide behind. I’m talking about that safety zone we have carefully constructed to keep everyone around us OUT and at the same time, present a pretty picture of who we are supposed to be. Aren’t we all glad that Jesus never did that!?

Back to my point: It is good if we don’t use fancy words when talking to others-who-don’t-know-Him-yet. Most people don’t speak Christian-ese, so when you speak God’s word, it’s OK to use a modern version. You might like the King James version but that is too hard for an unbeliever to understand. Besides, it seems that not many people speak what I actually call English anymore. People today seem to speak ‘abbreviation’ instead! 😶 

So here are a couple of illustrations of witnessing in action on our trip…hubby went for a walk to a local bakery and the things for sale in there cost an arm and leg — he came out of there hopping and waving one arm for balance. Only joking!!  But the baker and staff loved the bookmarks and calendars he gave out, and she gave him a free bun .

On the way back, hubby passed a homeless man sleeping on a bench in a bus shelter. Man there’s a reality rush! There’s nothing like looking at how someone else is forced to live to give you a wake-up call.. Hubby stopped, sat down with him, talked to him, and prayed for him. Then he gave him a Coles voucher and the Book of Hope.  His name is Rob. We’ve learnt that people end up on the street for all kinds of reasons they can’t help!

Here’s a helpful thought: instead of avoiding homeless people, try just saying ‘hello’ or smiling at them instead. They are human beings with names … they just fell into hard times and they aren’t all drunks and druggies. Like I said, if you want to see the Lord work you will have to take a risk, and sometimes you will have to put up with the smell. The thing is that smell reminds me that my sins stink like that in the Lord’s sight. It makes me think about the parable of the Wedding feast. The guys that actually come to that feast are the guys who weren’t asked to be there  – other people compelled them to come in. 😂

Here’s another cool thing the Lord did – the other day we returned to Ayr, to see our new Chinese friend Steven. Hubby was sorting out our bibles, etc., and guess what he found?? Yay, Jesus!! He found a Chinese New Testament for Steven to read. Hubby searched very thoroughly for one when we were in Ayr going toward Cairns, but he couldn’t find it. We assumed we didn’t have one. On the way back it just appeared! Seriously. Sometimes angels are really busy doing stuff for the Lord — they don’t all scare the living daylights out of people. You and I might pass one on the street. .. or in a bus shelter … 

“…Be ready with a meal or a bed when it’s needed. Why, some have extended hospitality to angels without ever knowing it! Regard prisoners as if you were in prison with them. Look on victims of abuse as if what happened to them had happened to you…“ Hebrews 13:2,3. MSG. Good advice. This world is not our home, next time it could be our turn to live through horrid stuff… Remember, if we want to see the Lord at work… then we will need to open our mouths and take risks. Bye. 👋

Matthew 22:1-14 “Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come. “Then he sent some more servants and said, ‘Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.’“But they paid no attention and went off—one to his field, another to his business. The rest seized his servants, mistreated them and killed them. The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city.”

“Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not DESERVE to come. So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’ So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, the bad as well as the good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests. “But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’ The man was speechless. “Then the king told the attendants, ‘Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ “For many are invited, but few are chosen.”

At this time, Jesus was preaching to the spiritual leaders and the crowds about a King who was holding a wedding feast. Astonishingly, at that moment, the Master of that feast was standing right in front of all of them inviting them all to think differently about God Himself. I think the Lord was giving the religious leaders who were listening, a chance to understand, that although they thought they were so right with God, they were actually rejecting Him in favour of their own more self-important made-up chosen ways! They are the people saying NO in this parable! They are the invited guests who are too busy with their own lives to respond to the honour. He is saying, if they are not careful, the little people, the so-called bad, less-spiritual people that they look down upon, will actually be the ones who end up at this feast – not them. Because the religious people will exclude themselves.

All of these different types of spiritual leaders had presumably come to check out His theology. They enjoyed a prominent spiritual position before God and man, and they were revered because of their place in that society. In His parable, the Lord is saying that they’ve used their privilege to avoid going to the feast – even though they had the invitation first. Because what they wanted, and deemed important, was more important than honouring their agreement. The Master of the feast is always more important than anybody invited to it! However, these men were so entrenched in what they had embraced, they couldn’t see Him and spent all their time trying to catch Him out.

Now, if anyone ought to know about the things of God it should be them! These guys studied the truth for a living … yet they still missed it when the Truth was standing in front of them. They did not see the value of their invitation to be His chosen people, and they blew it off. Even though the food, everything needed was all ready for them, and the Master of the feast would have to waste it … they still said no. Their religious ideas had grown so big, so all encompassing and powerful, that they thought their theology was more important to them than what He was saying. Just to be clear, the feast is actually God Himself, knowing Him … and He was standing right in front of them. But their pride in what they knew, said they knew better. They were too greatly invested in proving Him wrong and themselves right!

Now, you and I — who were never going to be a part of that elite group without Christ’s sacrifice — have been temporarily given their place. Let’s be clear, MAN cannot dictate the terms of any agreement between God and us. Almighty God does. And if He says ‘come’ we come – and if He says ‘GO,’ we go! Otherwise we are acting like we are in charge and we are not. Actually, when we think we are in charge, satan takes advantage of us! As outsiders, we have now been compelled by His love to be His honoured guests at that bridal supper. He personally sent the Holy Spirit to bring us in! We’ve been given brand new bridal garments washed in Jesus’ blood – because our own clothes will not do. 🙌

Our Heavenly Father God wants His house full of people who are glad to be included, and they are rejoicing because they know they are so blessed to be asked to His feast. In the mean time …let’s not ever forget how easily we can exclude ourselves, like these religious men in Matthew did. We must not use good-sounding excuses … they show the Lord our hearts, and reveal our lesser priorities. We’ve been invited to live the Way Christ lived this life. He is our priority. We must not ever make our personal priorities bigger than His. His free Grace is not permission to do what WE want.👋🏻
