P3450 Letting the Lord’s colours IN.

Even a few minutes daily, when we are distracted from the busyness of this world, is so good for our souls and mental health. Looking out of the window of a train, or watching a nature program, even watching your children sleep, all these things are free and there for us to enjoy. I love to watch the natural world ticking over doing stuff without my permission, it helps me realise I don’t have to hold even one bit of this world up. That’s SomeOne Else’s job!

At our house, hubby is putting together a wild garden at the front … the poor man… I get these grand ideas and hubby gets to carry them out! However, he too enjoys what it looks like!! Hubby still has to work but he does it under the Lord’s input and supervision. We have a semitropical garden, so some plants died, because wild meadows seem to do better in cold countries. I’ve put some pictures in today, they are not from our garden, but they were so pretty! That’s what we are aiming at.

In our front yard, we’ve had quails under the front steps, plovers nesting, bin chickens continually raiding the bins – even the cockatoos have a go at that! We have billions of Indian mina birds. They are noisy, conceited little blighters, and they poop on our car. It seems that they like looking at their own reflections. I guess that happens when you have a bird with a brain the size of a pea.

Plus we have our greatly loved local lorikeets, a blue tongued lizard, frogs and water dragons. Once a praying mantis gave birth in our wisteria, to about a billion little praying mantises. They were so perfect and tiny! We also have butterflies galore, along with blue banded bees, great carpenter bees, and teddy bear bees. The list goes on and on. It’s nearly spring here, it is definitely worth sticking your head out of the window to take a breath and take in the world around you waking up from winter.

Doing that is restful. Sometimes I think that our minds are so busy they don’t seem to know how to slow down and enjoy the scenery along the way. We are too busy rushing from A to B, picking up the kids and dropping them off at C, while we rush on to D and get our shopping done. On a good day we can sometimes go through the whole alphabet! However, this kind of action and activities won’t support us so we are contented happy people.

Here’s a bible verse to think on at such moments, Genesis 1:31: “God saw all that He had made, and it was very good…” Did you know that the words – “God said it was good…” appears seven times? If He said all He saw was good, then perhaps we need to take note of that and take the time to enjoy it more? After all GOOD is a very big word to Father God! Could it be we have become so caught up in the practicalities of this life, we can no longer enjoy anything that doesn’t have a screen? This earth is the setting into which God Himself chose to put us – we are His jewels.

Jesus told us clearly there is a rest we are to enter into.   He called it HIS rest. “For only we who believe can enter His rest. As for the others, God said, “In my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter My place of rest,’” even though this rest has been ready since He made the world.” Hebrews 4:3. This rest is what God Himself did on the 7th day of creation. We’ve made that 7th day about religion, but it was given to us to relax, breathe and enjoy Him. It is symbolic of the way the Lord wants us to live.  If we are not resting in God as we go about our day, then whatever we are doing, we are labouring in vain. Our faith is the key to entering into His rest. We simply believe He has taken care of our lives – the bits behind us, and the bits that are current — plus whatever is coming next!

He made this world for us to enjoy, and He gave us His Son to clear away every bit of the sin and debris that separated us from Him. What Jesus did for us, allows US to rest. Rest is the way Father God thinks, because the work is already done. Out of that rest comes everything else we do. For me that means I step back, take a big breath, and ask for His help, before I do anything and everything. It’s a matter of reminding myself I live in His kingdom now.

We live in His processes – no matter what is going on around us. We are kingdom people! You and I have chosen to live our lives His way. There is true rest when the work has already been done and you get to enjoy what someone else has laboured over. My little wild garden, is an example of the kind of free blessing God has given us. I don’t need to work in it, instead my dear husband works to keep it alive and thriving. That’s what the Lord’s rest is like, we do what He says, and we find the work has already been done!

Even though we do need to take care of our families, our loved ones, our homes — we must choose to remember that nothing happens to us, or through us, that God doesn’t already know about. Let’s enjoy the world around us, work hard, play, and … do everything from His rest. REST IS IN …. STRIVING IS OUT. Now, we live out our lives in what He did for us, using our faith and following His prompts, living this life His Way.

You and I don’t have to be driven by anything, we simply hold His hand and go where He goes, and enjoy the colours He put in our lives along the way. Bye 👋.

P 3185 A road map for your day.

“Let every activity of your lives and every word that comes from your lips be drenched with the beauty of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One. And bring your constant praise to God the Father because of what Christ has done for you!” Colossians 3:17 TPT. “Walk in the wisdom of God as you live before the unbelievers, and make it your duty to make Him known. Let every word you speak be drenched with grace and tempered with truth and clarity. For then you will be prepared to give a respectful answer to anyone who asks about your faith.” Colossians 4:5-6 TPT.

After reading those two scriptures I felt a bit like a sheep! Drenching here and drenching there. Then I looked up the word ‘drenching’ and I found out that doing that to the sheep gets rid of internal parasites. Hmmm. Perhaps I need this drenching stuff, because it is beneficial to my new life in Christ. It is way too easy to pick up internal parasites. You just have to drive in peak traffic and all that internal stuff starts coming out of your mouth! For these two scriptures to have power in our lives we need to hone our focus, with the Holy Spirit’s help. I think about it like this– will what I am going to say help that person to feel loved? Love is my aim.

Did you notice the conditions under which all of these lovely attitudes toward all kinds of other people transpires? Colossians 3 v17 is talking about those activities, plus our need to focus on the Lord Jesus and all He has done for us. And verses 5-6 of Chapter 4 is talking about walking in His wisdom, as well as letting the people around us know about Him … It also clearly mentions that we will need His grace to do it … I’ll say!

I definitely need truck loads of grace, I ask for it all the time.

It is easy to see how conflict occurs – one person can have a different version of truth than someone else. This scenario will probably end up in collision. It means we need a common denominator, or we will end up arguing about our differences.Instead we need to find a place of agreement, so why don’t we agree with His VERSION of the truth. When we agree about our love for Jesus, that brings Him back into focus. It is not helpful to talk our different theologies or our behaviours. This why those two verses are good together – they show us where our focus needs to be.

OK. So HOW do we spread abroad the love of God into our family’s lives first of all? We do whatever we need to do, in a quiet way under His guidance – no matter what the job is, or how difficult or irrelevant it seems. Our lives belong to Him so we deliberately choose to follow the Holy Spirit!  We can get into a quandary when we try to live for us and for Jesus …all at the same time, because a divided heart won’t get us where we want to go. It seems to me that I need to be aware of every word that comes out of my mouth or I will end up circling the drain. Part of being daily transformed includes being careful what I say.

This life makes it blatantly obvious to me that I need a Saviour, and the Holy Spirit’s help. My own methods are broken. Praise God Jesus died to give me His methods so I am not powerless in the face of adversity! I can now, bless and praise God immediately for giving me a new nature simply. I just need to choose to live like He did, preferring others, and living aware of His Father’s Love for Him. Love is the oil that throws light into our everyday thoughts and actions.

Because I walk with Jesus, that means that the people closest to me will not get my worst behaviour! In fact, if I follow the Holy Spirit around in my own life and I can practise learning to process what I think, without even saying a word. His Grace flows more freely when we deliberately choose to take the lowest place. And the Lord Himself will guide me into activities that are His choice for me. And He will help me deal with the ones that bring up those pesky parasites we were talking about before.

We need to remember, that the scripture in Colossians 3 talks about letting. Letting means allowing! We allow the Holy Spirit to keep our focus on Jesus, and guide us into whatever He has for us to do today. Plus we allow Him to correct us as we go along. In reality, our focus has to stay on Him, because we can’t do a thing without Him! That’s when praise starts – when we become witnesses to what He is really doing.

Our own little list of‘things I have to do’ will have to be surrendered to Him, simply because we are now letting Him guide us through each day. That’s what ‘dead to self’ means. I am no longer just a homemaker, or a mechanic, or a computer expert –now I am an ambassador for the King. That’s my title. That’s my Job! And it is by my own choice. That’s also when interruptions stop being a pest, and become His heaven-sent opportunities to change my responses. He can change me, or someone else – it doesn’t matter –because my focus in everything is on Him.

Now we are daily learning to rely upon Him and His Grace. I have a glorious Person Who is active, and helping me, and He knows exactly how to get me through the bumps of this life. I intentionally stand in His Grace and remember all this stuff that is going on around me, will never have the final say. Jesus does! However, if we choose to run with our own little lists … well, that’s when those pesky parasites come up, and they usually bring tanks and rockets with them! I need-to-be-drenched-with the Holy Spirit, continually, on purpose.

Who we are outside our house, depends on who we are inside our house. Part of overcoming daily difficulties is that we watch over our immediate focus, then it will become natural for our conversations to be about our faith in the One Who is helping us … minute by minute. That’s the road map from Colossians. Bye.👋

P 3055 Don’t wait – move!

“This is why the Scriptures say: Things never discovered or heard of before, things beyond our ability to imagine — these are the many things God has in store for all His lovers. But God now unveils these profound realities to us by the Spirit. Yes, He has revealed to us His inmost heart and deepest mysteries through the Holy Spirit, who constantly explores all things. For we did not receive the spirit of this world system but the Spirit of God, so that we might come to understand and experience all that grace has lavished upon us.

And we articulate these realities with the words imparted to us by the Spirit and not with the words taught by human wisdom. We join together Spirit-revealed truths with Spirit-revealed words. Someone living on an entirely human level rejects the revelations of God’s Spirit, for they make no sense to Him. He can’t understand the revelations of the Spirit because they are only discovered by the illumination of the Spirit. For Who has ever intimately known the mind of the Lord Yahweh well enough to become His counsellor? Christ has, and we possess Christ’s perceptions.”1 Corinthians 2:9-10, 12-14, 16 TPT.

I wish I had understood some of these wonderful truths sooner – so I could have jumped joyfully into the ever on-going journey of full and total surrender – earlier! Instead of merely standing on the edge of it, dipping my toe in and out, hoping that would do. The only thing I got from dipping my toe in, was a truck load of reasons why total surrender was not for me. I became too engaged with the things of this world. My bad!

Sometimes I think the Body of Christ has been so disillusioned by the previous whole blab it and grab it theological movement, our disappointment has led to us standing afar off from the Lord. We are a bit like the Israelites. When Almighty God appeared to be unmanageable and scary, that’s when they told Moses: “You go up the mountain, we’ll stay down here.” Yet, we know darn well it is still our choice to stand so far away. Every now and then, some brave soul makes a bold stand to trust God for this and that, … and when, or if what they pray over doesn’t happen, disillusionment sets in … again!

We’ve seem to have forgotten it’s the thief who comes to steal kill and destroy. And even worse! —- We have forgotten that God is good ALL THE TIME. Let’s learn to look for the good no matter how bad things seem. Instead of wagging the Spirit’s school of learning about God Himself, we all need to sit up front and learn. Just because you or I feel let down or deserted by Him, that does not make what we feel the truth. Let’s stop, read and reread what He has said, and reinforce the wonderful things we know about Him and His Ways. I’m praying for brave souls to step up, and step out, and go on to live in and love on unsaved countries. Our country is an unsaved country! Here I am God send me!

Today I want to lay down a challenge to everyone reading this. There are glorious things about our God that we know nothing about. Those things exist now, and they are there for us, if we just ask. Instead of feathering our own nests, let’s be about His kingdom! Those strategies and secret things are needed right here, right now. I’m not talking about the kind of prayers that will make me more comfortable, because something bad has happened. I’m talking about the kind of lay-your-life down praying that turns the world on its head. These things are not only glorious, they are there to be taken – merely for the price we are prepared to pay to go and get them!

(Isaiah 55:1-6)

Oh, where are our heroes of the faith? I have known some precious people of God in the past 52 years, and over those years I have seen some of these people persevere and press in, despite their circumstances. Praise God for their faith! But I’m so tired of the same old, same old, slog we participate in daily, week by week, paddling our broken canoes up the fantastic, enormous wild river of God’s love and provision. We need to step up, stand up, and ACT, by participating in what He is doing — instead of hiding away in our little hidey holes of supposed safety and security.

I also know many dear saints who have been broken by their circumstances, and yet they bravely limp on. But there is a much harder step forward than even maintaining what we have, and it comes from the men and women who know His heart and pray and act on it. No matter what the consequences are.The best things, the most glorious things, are still in front of us, but we will have to put down our ideas of a normal life, and step into the unknown. He’s there, waiting for us. Let’s remember that 11 other men remained in that boat when Peter stepped out of safety into the impossible!

Many generations today chase youth in their attitudes and activities – everybody wants to keep fit. What about spiritual fitness? His ways are so much better than the ways of this world. It’s time to stop hoping somebody else will answer His call, and go ourselves! We need to move. Whether we take our faith to the office, our schools, or some foreign country – if we do not use that faith for more than our own personal gain – we will lose it. Bye 👋

“Yes, remember your Creator now while you are young, before the silver cord of life snaps and the golden bowl is broken. Don’t wait until the water jar is smashed at the spring and the pulley is broken at the well.”  Ecclesiastes 12:6.
